Restrictive

Peptide Law in New York

Last reviewed

Status overview

New York is a restrictive-tier state for compounded peptide access in 2026. The April 15 federal reclassification clears the federal path, but state pharmacy board rules add meaningful friction for New York residents.

What this means in practice

  • Non-resident pharmacy registration. Out-of-state compounders must register with the New York State Education Department’s Office of the Professions to ship into New York. Several national compounders are not currently registered.
  • Telehealth prescribing. New York permits telehealth prescribing under standard state rules, but specific peptide categories may attract additional state-level oversight.
  • Lead time. Plan for 14+ days on first orders. Refills are typically faster once a relationship is established.

Practical workflow

  1. Identify a New York–licensed compounding pharmacy (in-state or out-of-state with New York registration) before placing an order.
  2. Confirm with your prescriber that their preferred compounder is appropriately licensed in New York.
  3. Build the relationship with one quality-first pharmacy rather than rotating across vendors.
